About Us
Rapid Coatings was founded in 2014 by the former owner of a Connecticut based contract manufacturer that specialized in quick turn prototyping of PCB assemblies.
Rapid Coatings specializes in the automated application of conformal coating for electronic assemblies on a quick turn basis. Rapid Coatings strives to be known in the industry as the most reliable, most efficient, most knowledgeable in electronic conformal coating.
We work hard to develop a company culture that aims to be the normal way of doing business.
In September, 2022, Rapid Coatings relocated to their new state of the art facility in Haverhill, MA. The standalone facility triples the amount of floor space available from Rapid’s previous facility in Woburn and provides many upgraded safety and security systems. The building is located on 4.5 acres and provides several expansion options for future growth.
The motivation to acquire a building was driven by growth of the business and the need to purchase additional equipment to achieve Rapid’s goal of automating the conformal coating process. The manufacturing layout meets all existing ESD safety standards and features separate manufacturing areas for silicone coating applications and for acrylic/urethane coating applications. The layout of the manufacturing floor has designed specifically by Rapid to provide significant efficiency enhancements for continuous conformal coating process improvements.
Haverhill and the surrounding Merrimack Valley region provide a large labor pool of potential employees. In addition, several local schools and colleges offer engineering programs that insure a continuous flow of available engineering talent. Rapid is conveniently located 1mi off Exit 106 on I-495 in the Ward Hill East Industrial Park.
With over 100 years of manufacturing experience in printed circuit boards, Rapid’s management understands the need for and importance of quick turn conformal coating services.
While the demand for conformal coating continues to grow exponentially, lead times for conformal coating services have made it increasingly difficult to meet production deadlines. Current technology of hand spraying, dipping or semi-automatic processing for conformal coating carries the requirement of masking of critical areas of the circuit board which result in quality issues, repeatability concerns and a significant increase in time to process an order.
Rapid has an emphasis on automation of the conformal coating process and has installed a significant amount of automated selective coating machines to address this need.
Rapid’s customer base is a combination of OEM’s, contract manufacturers and design engineering firms from across the USA. Customers will reach out to Rapid when a need arises for outside coating services either for a high volume project that exceeds in-house capability or a complex assembly that requires expertise from our engineering team.

Automated & Manual Coatings
Our sole focus is the application of materials to PCB assemblies. Rapid has several degreed process engineers on staff that consult with customers throughout the development cycle of a PCB assembly.
